Major renovations & additions
The land is right. The house is another question.
Whole-home transformations and significant additions for Colorado estates worth keeping. From $500K.
Reimagining what you already own
You will never find this land again.
That is the honest position for a great many Colorado owners. Five acres, the trees, the view, an address you could not buy back at today’s prices — attached to a floor plan drawn decades ago, with a kitchen walled off from the only room anybody actually sits in.
A major renovation is the version of the house you meant to buy in the first place. It keeps everything about the property that cannot be replaced and reconsiders everything that can.
We handle these the way we handle a new build: structure, systems and county review understood before design gets ambitious, so the budget you approve is the budget the project runs to.

Common questions
Renovating a Colorado home.
What does a major home renovation cost in Colorado?
Our renovations begin at $500,000 and whole-home transformations of larger estates commonly run well beyond that. The variables that move the number most are structural changes, whether mechanical and electrical systems are being replaced, and what is found once walls are opened on an older mountain home.
Is it better to renovate or to move?
It depends on the land. If the parcel, the view and the setting are things you could not buy again at today’s prices, renovating usually wins, because those are the parts a renovation keeps. If the site itself is the compromise, moving is the honest answer and we will tell you so.
Can you renovate while we live in the house?
Sometimes, for phased work. For whole-home renovations at this scale most clients move out, because the schedule is shorter, the cost is lower and the result is better when trades are not working around a family.
Do you handle additions as well as renovations?
Yes. Additions, whole-home reconfigurations, and combinations of both. Adding square footage in a mountain community usually brings setback, septic and county review questions with it, which we handle as part of the process rather than as a surprise.
How long does a major renovation take?
Design and permitting typically run three to nine months and construction commonly runs nine to fifteen months for a whole-home project. An older house is less predictable than a new build because some of what matters is behind the drywall until we get there.
